Abia state University has pledged to grant certificates to graduand on it 25th Convocation ceremony,In a statement signed by the University registrar Dr Iheukwumere,the management stated the certificates will be issued to graduands on certain conditions ,the statement reads: " Graduands who have collected their Statement of Results and present evidence of Certificate Clearance would collect their certificates on the convocation day "

Many students have raised eyebrows and have come out to express their reactions over the passed bill in Absu which have already taken effect. Below is one of the stricking reactions: # ABSU # No school fees, No course registration, No registration, No result policy, we accepted with good heart, but we say NO to this" no school fees no lecture". Even when the school portals frustrated our life due to the delay and mistakes in portals, the students have no option than to write a carry over in that course, not because we failed but because of the inefficiency of the portals. The students are among the stakeholders of the school, therefore i think we should be considered first before any policy should be applied in the school. I oblige every ABSU students to say no to this new development, because if u can afford to pay your fees on time, what about your friend who is next to you who can't afford three square meal. The entire medicine and surgery students was thrown into fright, when the university commission decided to run an eligibility check on the students. The check was conducted from the 200L students known as PC1 to 300L PC2. The flushing out of students was based on: -Incomplete registration -Students without matriculation number -Students who changed course to medcine without university's due process -Students with outstanding in their results. During this process, many students were asked to withdraw, Switch to other departments, Re-sit, or Repeat. Some are still yet to ascertain their status as they file en-masse to check their eligibility. Speaking with some of the students, who pleaded anonimous said that they were not happy with this development as they prefer the MBBS exam as the best means for the elimination. Saturday 1st April- University reopens for second semester. Monday 3rd April- Fee payment and course registration commencement. Monday 10th April- Lectures for second semester session commence. Friday 4th August lectures for second semester 2016/2017 session end. August 7th- Revision classes begin. August 11th- Revision classes ends. August 14th- Second semester 2016/2017 examination commence. Friday 8th September- Second second exams end. Saturday 9th September- Students proceed on end of session vacation. VACATION PERIOD 9th- 30th September.

The Abia State Executive Council has approved the immediate relocation of the Faculties of Law and Humanities to Umuahia, Abia State. Also Faculty of Engeneering will be located at Abia South with immediate effect. EXCO also approved N10, 000 reduction of school fees for Abia indigenes in Abia State University, Uturu. This was made known by the Hon. Commissioner for Information, Culture and Strategy, Abia State, Comr. Bonny Iwuoha at Government House Umuahia. Kudos to the Government lead by Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu. MOVEMENT INTO THE NEW CENTRE FOR ENTERPRENEURIAL STUDIES BUILDING This is to inform the university community that the Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies, formerly located at the Old Law Block, has finally moved into the new building erected by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND). The new building is situated opposite medical Centre at the back of the new e-Library. Every transaction with the Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies will now take place in the new building. The Centre will start offering programmes on Entrepreneurial Skills from 2nd Semester of 2015/2016 session. It has just being brought to our news desk that, Prof. Uchenna Eleazar Ikonne has being elected as the New Vice Chancellor of ABSU. He will take over from the incumbent Vice Chancellor Prof. Chibuzo Ogbuagu after his tenure will elapse on 30th of November, 2015. Until his recent elevation, Prof. Ikonne was former Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics, ABSU, later he was appointed the Acting Rector of Abia State Polytechnic, Aba by former Governor T. A.
