It was a dream come true as mammoth crowd of people fr om across the length and breadth of Nigeria gathered at Abia State University Senate Ground last Friday for the commissioning of Abia State University Women Association (ABSUWA) Interactive center “NNENANU HUB” as well as Unveiling of their New Uniform. Wives of Abia State Governor, Deputy Governor & Speaker of The House of Assembly;Commissioners; Local Government Chairmen; Elected and appointed Political office holders, Former Vice-Chancellors; Clergymen; Traditional Rulers; Lovers of success; Staff and Students of the institution were among the guests at the occasion. As you already know, the Commander in Chief, Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Mohammadu Buhari, GCFR, has graciously approved my appointment as Executive Director, (Administration and Training), Nigerian Television Authority, NTA. Dr. Okereke Stanley is the immediate past HOD of Biochemistry department and the Staff Adviser of KEZIE ABIA Group, ABSU chapter. Okereke Stanley C( Ph.D) on his recent appointment is now the Dean Students Affairs, Abia State University.

The Vice-Chancellor ,Abia State University,Professor E. Uche Ikonne,has commended the Department of Biochemistry of the university for procuring laboratory equipments. The Vice-Chancellor who gave the commendation when he visited the department to commission the equipments, stressed the need to include practicals in teaching. He also said that his management team has a very cordial relationship with the Faculty of biological and physical sciences, as evidently displayed by the Research Grants approved for funding by the University through Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund),and further enjoyed them to to involve the students ,both undergraduate and postgraduate as it will enable them get grounded in the system. Professor Ikonne also disclosed that his administration will soon kickoff the refurbishment of all laboratories in the university. When flood comes, fish eat ants and when flood recedes, ants eat fish. Only time matters. To make soap, oil is required, but to clean oil, soap is required. This is the irony of life. "We are not Cultists"- ABSU Students Students of Abia State University, Uturu (ABSU) Tuesday embarked on a campaign against cultism. The dogged ABSU students who went into Uturu and Okigwe communities were led by the Dean, student's Affair, Prof F E Eboh and President, Students Union Government, Alugo Victor. With placards which reads " Shun Cultism, killers will be Killed someday' ' We are not Cultists' 'Shun Cultism embrace Christ" among others. The students enlightened the people. In a fun filled parade, the students danced and sang as they assured the people of the communities that ABSU is a safe haven for education. Addressing students, the SUG president said ABSU students are known for excellence and service.
