The Senate of Abia State University Uturu has approved July 28th 2017 as deadline for registration of all outstanding 2015/2016 First and Second Semester Courses & 2016/2017 First Semester Courses. After the expiration of the deadline all unregistered courses shall remain carry over that must be rewritten. However the University may not allow students who have not paid their fees to write exams.

The university management has released the Semester Exam time table after  a Senate meeting held yesterday. 2nd Semester Exam is slated to commence on 17th July 2017. Be Properly Guided!

The long awaited Automated Teller Machine in Absu has become functional,The projected which was  part of Ugochukwu Majesty Led administration had a sluggish voyage towards becoming operative. For now, the ATM could check account balance,make Transfer but no withdrawals.  Most of the students seems excited over the recent development,and also expects the machines at hostel B car park to be functional in subsequent times. While most of the students seems delighted others ,seem not interested over no fees no lecture Policy,but the SUG has responded saying that the matter is seriously under consideration.

Abia State University Uturu that pioneered the six year Optometry programme in Nigeria leading to the award of OD (Doctor of Optometry) Degree and currently have a graduate programme in Clinical Optometry for M.Sc and PhD in addition to housing a residency programme for Fellow of the Nigerian College of Optometrists (FNCO) have signed a memorandum of understanding with the State University  of New York College of Optometry. President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday gave vice chancellors a marching order to expel students with less than 0.5 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) from next academic session. Such students, he said, are unserious elements that should not be accommodated any longer in higher institutions. The President also cautioned governing councils and managements universities against muzzle-flexing and ego-tripping, which he said had thrown affected universities into avoidable crises. Buhari spoke at the 31st convocation of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT). He further assured his administration was committed to the 2009 agreement entered into with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). WHICH SET OF PERSONS CAN BUY THIS FORM? Any candidate. Whether you choose Absu or not, or you did not see you name in the supplementary lists, but scored upto 180 in your JAMB exam. (Note there is a huge difference between IAS AND IDEA programs ) WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN IAS AND REGULAR? NO difference, just in Matriculation number. The students learn the same time, the same courses with Regular students. WHICH FACULTIES ARE AVAILABLE FOR THIS PROGRAM ?  It was a moment of giving back and appreciation ,as Abia State University Law Alumni Port-harcourt branch (1997 set) donate books to the faculty of law. Speaking during the visit, the leader of the delegation, Barr.Chris Okafor said that they were motivated by Dr. Amadike Ugbogu to do a positive pay back to their alma-mater, as well as the Vice-Chancellor's determination to change the face of the university positively. It was a huge success, honour and privilege having the vice Chancellor Abia state University (prof. E. U ikonne) during NAFSTS induction in Absu, umuahia campus and also Prof. C. O Emerole (Dean,faculty of agriculture) and Prof mazi Emma (HOD, Food science and technology department, Absu). Present in the induction was Sug director of transport (Elder) and Fin. On the 29th of June 2016, the AbsuLawClinic team went to Umuekwule in Afugiri Umuahia, to visit the relative of one of our pre trial detainee clients, a 15 years old boy, who has been remanded in Umuahia Prisons, for almost 2years, he has since been granted bail during the jail delivery exercise that took place on the 4th of May 2016. T he reason for our visit was to convince one of his relatives to be his surety. Our Client, Chima, a 15years old orphan, with no immediate siblings except a step mum, step grandmother, and step brothers. Who see Chima as an "Abandoned government property". They insist that Chima is a deviant and should remain in prison custody, they are not willing to sign anything on his behalf, infact he is an abandoned property (sic). In Chima, however, we see a juvenile delinquent with great potentials and an amazing wealth of talent.
